    Violette_FR and Maison Alexandra Golovanoff launch beauty and fashion collaboration inspired by Paris nightlife

    Designer Alexandra Golovanoff and makeup artist Violette Serrat both love color. The two have recently been obsessed with the elusive shade of noir rouge, or the ultra-stylish “black-red,” so they’ve teamed up: Serrat’s beauty brand Violette_FR and Golovanoff’s eponymous clothing brand have launched a fashion centered around the deep hue Paired with beauty.

    Violette_FR launches two new shades of liquid eyeshadow and eyeliner Yeux Paint: Paris La Nuit, a bold metallic red; adding to its library of 15 matte and shimmer shades; and Café Serré, a deep coffee brown. Priced at $32 per box, this eyeliner hybrid has a long-wearing, crease-free formula that can be applied without primer. While both shades stem from Serrat’s French roots, she was specifically inspired by her memories of late nights in Paris as a teenager, and her morning pick-me-up of espresso.

    “I have these incredible memories of spending an evening with friends, laughing, feeling happy, and then getting out of the cab and going home and seeing all these red lights along the river and not caring about sleeping, Just go to work,” Serrat told Fashionista. “So I hate coffee, but I’ll have a very short cup of coffee and wake up gurgling.” The resulting palette visually captures the same story: Paris La Nuit through shimmering red and gold pearls The red light of the city is highlighted, while Café Serré offers a vibrant coffee brown.

    As for the fashion side of the collaboration, Maison Alexandra Golovanoff launched its own new shade, a rich burgundy shade called Rouge de Minuit (Midnight Red), to match Violette_FR’s Parisian nightlife inspiration. The brand has now launched a capsule collection of new colorways on its website, including cashmere sweaters, cardigans, corduroy pants, velvet skirts and more, with prices ranging from $287 to $1,261. Golovanov said that this kind of sunglasses can make the wearer feel like the “Queen of the Night.”

    “There’s a sense of mystery in the evening, when you can be someone else and you become braver,” Golovanoff said of her inspiration for Rouge de Minuit. “The nightlife in Paris prefers velvet in this color. […] Paris has an underground life but is still very, very chic. The underground is not shabby at all. It remains refined and [Serrat and I] This moment is communal.

    When it comes to brand collaborations, Serrat said she focuses on “genuine friendships” between potential partners. Golovanov echoed Serrat’s sentiments: “It has to be sincere. I won’t do anything with people I don’t feel comfortable with, and it has to reflect something deep and true to me.”

    The collaboration — which includes new shades from Violette_FR and Rouge de Minuit pieces from Maison Alexandra Golovanoff — debuted Thursday at the New York store of The Webster, the multi-brand retailer founded by Laure Hériard Dubreuil. You can purchase it in person at the store until October 29th, or online at alexandragolovanoff.com and violettefr.com starting October 30th.
