The show’s popularity helped Bilson quickly become one of the faces of the millennial generation. Thereafter, she continued her acting career, taking on leading roles in shows such as Hart’s dixieshe also played the role of mother.
Bilson currently hosts a podcast with her best friends called “Broad Ideas With Rachel Bilson & Olivia Allen,” where they talk about sex, mental health, ghosts (do they exist?), and everything in between everything in between.
As a mom and entrepreneur, Bilson has a lot on her plate, so it’s important to her to have a morning routine that helps her feel her best and prepare her for the day ahead. We caught up with Bilson to learn how she starts a typical day and prioritizes her mental health.
she wakes up and gets comfortable
When I wake up, the first thing I do is put something warm on my feet – I don’t like cold feet. I love the most comfortable socks or slippers. My favorite slippers are by Jenni Kayne and my favorite socks are those fuzzy slipper socks you can buy almost anywhere, even places like CVS.
Next comes her favorite part of the morning: coffee
I go to bed at night just so I can have a cup of coffee when I wake up – that’s what I look forward to in the morning. One of my favorite habits is to prep my coffee the night before so it’s ready for me in the morning.
I recently discovered that my favorite coffee maker, the Moccamaster, has a single cup coffee maker and it has changed my life. I’ve been using their full range of pots for years, but I’m the only one here so I needed something smaller. It’s actually drip coffee, with the filter, grounds, and the whole thing. I’m very excited about this!
A new step I’ve added to my coffee drinking routine is drinking a hot cup of coffee. I have an instant hot water faucet and I like to put hot water in the cup, empty it, then place the cup under the single cup coffee maker and use the warm cup to brew the coffee. I want to make sure it’s extra hot. Then I add cream and sugar to the coffee and I’m good to go!
If she gets up early, she might do something ambitious
It’s not something that happens every day, but for example, I woke up at 5 o’clock this morning and I was surrounded by old bananas, so I thought, “You know what I’m going to do? I’m going to bake bread. That’s really ambitious.” I don’t want to portray this as happening every morning, but it did happen this morning.
Afterwards, she made food for her daughter to go to school
I’m proud to pack her lunch – it’s really fun! Especially if I use PlanetBox stainless steel lunch boxes, I can organize them because of the compartments. I’m a Virgo, so this really speaks to my heart.
Then her daughter rose
I have to wake her up because she will never get up on her own, then I get her ready and send her to school.
Before going out, safety first

As a mother, it is crucial to ensure that my family and home are safe and protected when I am away from home. I really like being able to see what’s going on in the home when the camera detects someone. I can peek and spy on anyone there. Is it a new bag? Is this the new jacket I ordered? I don’t know, but I’ll check it out and it’s interesting.
Then, it’s time for her skincare routine
Sure, I brush my teeth before I go out, but I don’t do my routine until I get back from school. To be honest, I’m not very good at taking my mascara off the night before, so I usually use Comodynes Makeup Remover Wipes to remove any excess in the morning, then moisturize with Goopgenes Cream. That’s the extent of my beauty regimen.
She exercises three mornings a week
I just started going to Pilates three mornings a week – it’s something I do for my mental health. My post-pilates treat is a caffeinated drink from the store next door. I also incorporated therapy back into my life one morning a week. I think therapy is also very important for mental health.
Finally, she recorded her podcast
If we have a podcast interview, I go home after Pilates and get ready because we do the interview at my house. I had to quickly clean the house and get ready for the podcast, which was really fun because I got to do it with my best friend.
