Suddenly, fashionistas started buying beautiful khaki trench coats

It’s been a mild start to the season and I needed a lightweight jacket to tie me down while my cozy winter coats were still tucked away. While I’m sure their day will come soon, this in-between period requires coverage that will keep me warm without overheating.

Inspired by the chic trench coats that are everywhere around me, I decided to buy myself this style of trench coat this winter. This season, however, instead of opting for the classic camel color I’ve seen year after year, I bought an understated but very chic khaki trench coat.

This emerging trench coat trend has an earthy, slightly moody energy that adds depth and interest to the garments while also echoing the changing seasons. While camel and beige trench coats are fashion staples that return every year, this rich khaki trench is both seasonally appropriate and a fresh alternative to previous trench coat color trends.

This trend is widely adopted by high street and designer brands taking over storefronts this season. Some showed off elegant short coats, while others debuted chic double-breasted styles in trendy shades.

While khaki isn’t considered a traditional neutral, the winter hue is muted enough to pair with a variety of shades. This wearable hue is a natural color found throughout nature and pairs well with other earth tones like brown, beige, white and black, as well as more vibrant colors like burgundy and fuchsia.
