Fall and winter fashion often features rich, classic neutral solids like camel, grey, burgundy, and chocolate brown—but this season, we’re seeing a specific pattern everywhere (no pun intended): leopard print.
Animal prints of all types (python, cowhide, cheetah) never really go out of style, but according to shopping platform LTK, searches for leopard print items have increased by 556% since August this year. It seems the entire fashion world agrees with Janice from Friends that leopard print is actually unisex.
Leopard print is one of the few evergreen patterns that is both regal and rebellious, which may be why designers are embracing the pattern in such a big way. Brands such as Alaïa, Dior and Norma Kamali have been involved in prints for decades. Other brands such as Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli and Ganni have an almost personal signature in their DNA. New spring 2025 collections from brands like Jacquemus, Zimmermann and Prada prove that prints are as popular as ever and will continue into spring.
Amid fashion’s current focus on all things vintage, the leopard print trend favors retro silhouettes such as Penny Lane coats, T-strap pumps and fur totes. LTK said searches for leopard-print pants have soared 631% in the past 60 days. For this reason, Damson Madder, Lioness and Madewell offer popular denim options.
Party dresses in leopard or cheetah print (the latter consists of solid black spots, while leopard print has black spots with brown centers) will undoubtedly be popular this holiday season: opt for a cocktail dress (Emily Ratajkowski loves Rumored’s Mini dresses) or sleek dresses for formal occasions (Laura Harrier’s collaboration with Reformation is a great one).
