From silk scarves tied around handbags to drapes, drapes, and more drapes, our editors saw so many trends hitting the runways at Paris Fashion Week this season.
Kristen Nichols, associate director of special projects at Who What Wear, said the Saint Laurent show earlier this week set the tone for PFW.
“One of the biggest moments of the week is the first day of Paris Fashion Week, which is when the Saint Laurent collection launches, and it’s really a very strong collection that sets the tone for Paris Fashion Week,” Nichols said.

What did you wear during Paris Fashion Week?
Overall, most seasons, I really try to stick to my personal style and not get carried away by any super new trends.
I do have a few new outfits planned, but when the rain throws me a much-needed curveball, I literally reach for wardrobe staples.
That includes some Khaite jeans, a must-have pair of boots, and lots of trench coats.

Speaking of which, what are fashionistas in Paris wearing right now?
I feel like the fashion show is one of the sources of inspiration, but I think seeing what attendees wear is equally inspiring to me because it really shows how these new pieces can be worn in cool ways outside of the show.
Some of the most inspiring pieces, both styling ideas and separates, come in the form of scarves and draped tops.
We see a lot of interesting ways people wear scarves, which I feel like haven’t necessarily been cool or popular for a long time.
It’s really fun to see – whether it’s strapped to a bag or hanging around your neck.
Obviously, wearing a scarf is very French, but I feel like we’re looking at it in a new, cooler way.

Also, at this point, there are a lot of draped tops. We saw these on the fall runways from brands like Bottega [Veneta].
I think these pieces are really resonating right now.
We are also seeing people start wearing the clothes they like again.
Street style has long been about this peacock look and dressing in various trends, and it’s so refreshing to see people leaning into their own style.

Share with me some of your highlights from Paris Fashion Week.
One of the buzziest moments of the week was the first day of Paris Fashion Week, where the Saint Laurent collection launched, and it was indeed a very strong collection that set the tone for Paris Fashion Week.
There were plenty of celebrity moments, but overall this series was incredible. I think that will translate to editorial and sales.
Chanel, on the other hand, was back at the Grand Palais in Paris, which is their long-time venue for shows, but it was being renovated, so it was a buzzing moment.
The brand is now literally among the designers. They haven’t announced a new creative director yet, so this is a collection designed by a creative studio.
It’s a really fun, light-hearted series that I think reflects the space we’re in when we watch it.
