“I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother,” Beyoncé told more than 30,000 live attendees and 5 million livestream viewers across the U.S. . “A mother who cares deeply about her children’s world.”
During a nearly four-minute speech in Beyoncé’s hometown of H-Town, the artist paid tribute to “proud Texas women.” We are at the edge of an incredible transition.
Beyoncé wore a classic black strong-shoulder blazer mini dress, paired with black pointed-toe heels and translucent tights. The Grammy winner doesn’t often campaign for political candidates herself. Her attire matched the tone of her speech: a power suit envisioned for one of the music industry’s most powerful pop stars, serious and ready to support a woman seeking the nation’s highest office in a critical election year. Beyoncé looked confident without being overly glamorous or unattainable – her look emphasized her message that she was just like the worried women heading to the polls this November.
“To all the men and women watching across the country, we need you,” she said as the crowd cheered around her. “Your freedom is your God-given right and your human right.”

After her speech, Beyoncé welcomed Vice President Kamala Harris to the stage to deliver a speech. The two embraced, cameras flashed, and political history was written. Their embrace embodied the message at the end of the singer’s speech: “Are you ready to add your voices to this new American song? Because I am.”
