“The Woman of Now” is currently the most popular movie on Netflix, according to the platform’s public ranking system.

The crime thriller marks the directorial debut of Anna Kendrick, who also stars in the film alongside Daniel Zovatto, Tony Hale and Nicolette Robinson. The show is based on a chilling true story about a serial killer who appeared on the 1978 TV show “The Dating Game” and went on a killing spree.

“The Woman of Now” was released on Netflix on October 18, more than a year after its premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. Reviews are mostly positive.

Read on to see more of the hottest movies available right now on streaming services like Hulu, Max, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video. If you want to know everything about streaming, subscribe to the Streamline newsletter.

The most popular movie on Max right now is “MaXXXine,” which is the third installment in director Ti West’s “X” series of horror movies.

Set in 1980s Hollywood, the film stars Mia Goth, who reprises her role as aspiring actress Maxine Minx from “Pearl.” The cast also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, Kevin Bacon and Moses Sumney.

Another horror movie is currently trending on Hulu. Late Night with the Devil premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival and received mostly positive reviews from critics.

The film combines “found footage” and documentary filmmaking elements, with the plot centering around a late-night talk show that invites an allegedly demonically possessed girl as a guest to appear on Halloween in 1977.

“Brothers” begins streaming on Amazon Prime Video on October 17, one week after its limited release in theaters.

Starring Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage, this action comedy tells the story of estranged ex-criminal twin brothers who must team up to pull off one last heist. The cast also includes Glenn Close, Marisa Tomei and Brendan Fraser.
