Zayn Malik is taking some time off following the death of his One Direction bandmate Liam Payne. On Saturday, Malik announced that he would be postponing the U.S. leg of his “Ladder to the Sky” tour due to the tragic loss.
“In light of the heartbreaking losses we have experienced this week, I have decided to postpone the U.S. leg of my STAIRWAY TO THE SKY tour,” Malik wrote on his Instagram Story of the show, which was scheduled to begin on October 23. road. “The date will be rescheduled for January and I will post in the next few days once everything is confirmed. Your tickets will still be valid for the new date.”

He then closed his remarks by thanking fans for their “understanding.”
Payne died earlier this week after falling from a third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The city’s police said the incident left the singer with “extremely serious injuries” and he was pronounced dead on arrival. A preliminary autopsy report showed that he died of “internal and external” bleeding.

Before Payne’s death, the hotel manager called 911 to request help for a guest who was “under the influence of drugs and alcohol and had destroyed some items in the room.”
Malik joined fellow One Direction members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan in releasing a joint statement responding to Payne’s death. “We are completely shocked by the news of Liam’s passing,” the group began. “As time goes on, when everyone is able, more will be said. But for now, we need some time to grieve and process the loss of our beloved brother.”
