It’s Friday; come on in, we’re learning how to watch TV.
Welcome to Paul Mescal Season
Over the summer I spent some time in London with Paul Mescal and his tiny earrings. Q November cover story. We delved into his work Gladiator II (“The only thing I’ll always be angry about at Ridley is his deep desire to film in the height of fucking summer, as an Irish boy who doesn’t do well in the heat”). We become philosophical (“I’ve always been convinced that I won’t live very long”). Of course, I asked him about those escape rumors (“Ohhhhh…Damn it!“).
My first introduction to mezcal was in 2020, in ordinary people It exploded. “Throughout these 12 episodes, there’s a strong sense that you’re witnessing the development of a leading man who will be on our screens for years to come,” I wrote at the time. Okay, okay, okay. But in fact, in the years since, he’s been making all the smart, really quality choices a young actor can make. After-sun! We are all strangers! This fall will be the next test of his mettle, as he trades the indie movies he longs for for the $250 million blockbuster stage.
More from the beautiful and proud country of Ireland
Elsewhere on “Q Covering Irish Exports’ Beat, a profile by Olivia Ovenden on Fontaines DC, is both hilarious and thoughtful. And, more importantly, the lads are backed by Emerald Isle legends Mescal and Cillian Murphy.
Learn how to watch TV

You may be disrupting your REM cycle by falling asleep The Great British Bake Off. Also, is skipping a show you watch with your girlfriend technically cheating?
