At the end of summer, I came to Belmond Cap Juluca in Anguilla to experience this iconic hotel. The destination has historical ties to iconic guests including Jackie Kennedy and current A-listers such as Jennifer Aniston and Yara Shahidi. Its architecture and guests have also been photographed by Slim Aarons, a photographer known for his photos of socialites, the rich, famous and the places they visited.
During my trip, I experienced horseback riding along a pristine white sand beach, private Pilates classes overlooking the coastline, delicious cuisine at the on-site restaurant, and treatments at the newly opened Guerlain Spa. Opened in 1988, Belmond Cap Juluca quickly became known for its luxurious accommodations and stunning oceanfront location, most recently undergoing an extensive renovation in 2018.
Belmond Cap Juluca is a luxury resort located on the stunning shores of Maundays Bay. Known for its beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, the resort combines Caribbean charm with refined elegance. Accommodations include beachfront villas and suites, many with private terraces and direct beach access along paved trails. The hotel is closed during late summer hurricane season, and the most popular time to visit is winter through early spring. Winter temperatures remain warm and tropical, making it the perfect place to escape the colder climate. Overall, Belmond Cap Juluca is the perfect choice for those looking for a peaceful, luxurious getaway in a picturesque setting.
One of the highlights of the visit was the Guerlain Spa, opening in summer 2024. The natural atmosphere blends into the space. Upon entering the massage room, I was asked to choose from a selection of Guerlain fragrances, including some inspired by the tropical environment of the Caribbean.

For a three-night trip, I was able to fit everything into a carry-on and a small duffel bag. During my stay, I rotated between swimsuits and light linen dresses paired with sandals. I pair my dress with a baseball cap during the day and a simple leather bag at night. The location is perfect for relaxing island dressing, as you can spend time between beaches or dress up for dinner at the on-site restaurant in the evening.

There were many excursions available during my stay including a boat trip to Cactus Island, kayaking, snorkeling, tennis lessons and fishing. I chose horseback riding, starting at a local stables and ending along the pristine white beaches of Belmond Cap Juluca. At the end of the ride I jumped into the water on horseback and it was even more spectacular than I could have ever imagined.
The hotel has beautiful grass tennis courts set beside lush foliage, where guests can book group or private lessons. The rooms come with fluffy robes and slippers, and my room also has a light-filled bathroom with marble countertops. The hotel also has a number of restaurants where guests can dine. Breakfast is served every morning at Pimms, which offers sweeping views of the hotel. Cip’s by Cipriani is a great spot for dinner, offering a locally inspired menu as well as classics including Harry’s Bar’s classic meringue cake. A personal favorite is The Cap Shack – the most casual option. I had lunch here every day and ordered the local crawfish, which was cooked fresh on the grill on the beach.
