A Ma Maniére’s ongoing collaborations with Nike and Jordan Brand have always been a source of sneaker hype, with some of their best work to date (such as the glorious 2021 release of the Air Jordan 3 ) already being heralded as modern classics. Their latest offering is an enticing update to the legendary Nike Air Max 95 that looks set to become iconic once it hits shelves on October 25th.
This Air Max 95 is the fourth model in A Ma Maniére’s “While You Were Sleeping” collection, a limited-edition collaboration with Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse to celebrate the brand’s tenth anniversary. While You Were Sleeping is built around a short film and advertising campaign that will premiere in cinemas. It was intended to promote a message of “creation at all costs” and told the story of a creative establishment that taxed black artists – a metaphor with a strong social message, like much of A Ma Maniére’s work .
The “WYWS” Air Max 95 is a luxurious take on a familiar and beloved silhouette. It features a fuchsia suede upper with a black satin tongue that sits atop a cushioned insole and black midsole for what the brand calls “extra comfort and sophistication.” Like many of the brand’s offerings, the Air Max also includes premium details such as monogrammed logos and laser-etched branding on the toe and heel, as well as three additional sets of laces. The overall aesthetic is cool and subtle, fashionable and low-key, matching the overall “WYWS” series.
If that’s not enough, the sneaker will be releasing alongside its special edition Nike Destroyer Varsity Jacket. Made from pebbled leather and lined with smooth satin, this jacket is an updated version of a classic outerwear style. It includes two unique variations, each with its own unique A Ma Maniére logo printed on the back.
