Ever since Announced engagement to Prince Harry, The eyes of the world are on Meghan Markle and her style. we will follow meghan markle effect™ With our column “Meghan Markle Wore a Thing.”
In a world where fashion is viewed as disposable and celebrities rarely wear the same thing twice, being an outfit repeater is an especially admirable trait. So when we see someone like Meghan Markle re-wear something she has previously worn in public, we have to applaud. On Saturday, the Duchess of Sussex re-donned the gown she wore at past events when she attended the 2024 Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala, which honored patients and pediatric staff.
For the event, she chose a red Carolina Herrera gown from the brand’s Pre-Fall 2022 collection, which featured a plunging halter neckline, column silhouette and central slit. Wearing minimal accessories, she opted for a bare plunging neckline, thin gold bracelets and red suede Aquazurra sandals (now sold out).

For those who have avidly followed Markle’s fashion journey, her outfit may look familiar: She also wore it to the Intrepid Museum’s Salute to Freedom Gala in November 2021. For the first time, she wore a long skirt and red pointed-toe heels.
By giving this Carolina Herrera piece a second life, she pays homage to famed outfit repeater Lizze McGuire and promotes the idea that there’s no shame in re-wearing an outfit for an occasion, even as a celebrity of. Now we wonder what she’ll pull out of her closet next.
