Led by Bachelorette alum and Future Self founder Tanner Courtad, the class offers walking-based workouts that are sure to help you log a ton of steps while getting your heart rate up. Facilitated by Paris Nicole and Tyler Hightower, this class is beginner-friendly and an easy option for home or gym exercise.
The best part? If you’re pressed for time, the class is only thirty minutes long, and it’s a low-intensity group fitness class that doesn’t require any fussy equipment—just your body weight.
“Walking classes can help get your heart rate up and help you feel better,” says Courtard. First, you’ll start with a full-body structured warm-up that includes stepping in place, side steps, and small forward kicks.
Throughout the course, Courtard reminded the class to pay close attention to form, prompting participants to keep their chests tall and proud and their spines long, and to have fun moving their arms and steps. The goals of group fitness classes are to work on coordination, improve balance, and focus on core work.
In the next phase of his training, Courtard turned up the intensity with squats and combinations inspired by boxing. The class also features a standing core challenge that targets the obliques. Finally, Courtard performed a group relaxation session, gradually reducing the intensity, lowering his heart rate, and stretching.
“At the end of the day, what we have to do is probably take a little more action,” Courtard said before signing off. “I’m glad we can do it together.”
