The couple’s town hall wedding is set for September 6, a sweet nod to Samantha’s parents’ anniversary, which is numerically the opposite, on June 9. “We want guests to discover something new every time, so there’s always an element of surprise and delight,” says Samantha. The invitations designed by Cheree Berry featured a pinwheel pattern that became the basis for all creative elements of the wedding.
The weekend started with a bridal luncheon hosted by Will’s mother and sisters at Galli Beach (one of Samantha’s father’s favorite restaurants), followed by a clam bake later that evening for close friends and family. Friday was equally busy, with a town hall ceremony in the morning and a rehearsal dinner in Ventuno in the evening. “We took up the entire second floor and it felt like we were all in someone’s house,” Samantha describes. “Lucky for us, Tyler made his famous espresso martini!” Everyone then enjoyed a welcome drink at Cru. “Many of our guests have never been to Nantucket before, and there’s no better place to showcase the beautiful harbor.”
Samantha has always been a fan of classic fashion, so she decided to go completely vintage for her wedding. After successfully booking an appointment with Alexis Novak of Tab Vintage (“My stylist friend Marni Senofonte managed to find a spot for me!”), she invited her to style all the wedding looks. “Alexis is incredibly talented and has the most incredible eyes,” she shared. “I feel very lucky that she agreed to work with me.”
She chose a 1991 Vivienne Westwood tailored gown as her ceremony outfit. “It’s visually very interesting and a little rebellious,” says Samantha. “I keep warning people this is not an ordinary wedding dress. But every time I try it on, I get so excited – it has a very special energy.
After finding their first dress, Samantha and Alexis kept discovering more looks they loved. “I couldn’t stop myself,” Samantha said with a smile. “I just kept going to events so I could wear another look!” On a trip to the One Of A Kind archives in London, Samantha and her mother discovered a Thierry Mugler suit and a A crocheted Chanel dress. “When I saw the suit with the shell-like pattern, I was fascinated,” she explains. “It felt very modern but also paid homage to our island wedding. The crochet train on the Chanel dress felt very Nantucket – finding these two pieces in this incredible store felt like It was a godsend and it brought back special memories for me and my mom as we went through their archives 20 years ago looking for bar mitzvah clothes. Other big fashion moments include the 1992 Chanel she wore to the City Hall ceremony. (Chanel) dress and jacket, as well as a 1999 Christian Dior minidress and 1994 Versace dress that she wore to the bridal luncheon and clam bake, respectively.
