Editor’s Picks It’s the Fashionista team’s true (#notspon) obsession with fashion and beauty, hand-picked by professionals who know it all.
I admit you guys look really cool in hip-high, low-rise, baggy jeans, and as a millennial, part of me wants to relive the 2000s and embrace the trend’s resurgence. But another part of me—one that remembers the first time low-rise jeans gave me nothing but discomfort and negative effects on my body—is winning.
My recent denim purchases indicate that my silhouette preferences haven’t really changed at all in the past decade, and perhaps never will. But you can’t go wrong with classic, retro-style straight-leg jeans with a high (but not too high) tie fly. Correct?
I’ve heard about Agolde’s fits for years and finally bought a pair on sale and they exceeded my expectations. From the wash to the silhouette, they look like dreamy vintage Levi’s 501s that will always be unforgettable. They’re made from heavy, stiff denim and are surprisingly comfortable despite their lack of stretch. They’re described as “ankle length,” which is slightly longer than my 5’2″ frame, but still short enough to wear with flats without any drag.
Is my unwillingness to embrace the latest denim trend making me grumpy? Maybe, but I’m going to stick with what works and will be wearing these jeans non-stop this fall and beyond.
