To hear Stefano Secchi’s enthusiasm for Piedmont you’ll be convinced you’ve been missing out. Florence and Rome may be wonderful destinations, but as the chef and owner of New York City’s Michelin-starred restaurant Rezdôra knows, Piedmont is undoubtedly one of the crown jewels of Italian cooking (if you like rich wines, Delicate cheese and truffles, that is).
Piedmont is located at the foothills of the Alps, bordering France to the west, Switzerland to the north, and Liguria to the south. The region is home to some of Italy’s finest wines—the vineyards of Langhe and Roero are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites—and is a top destination for any discerning wine connoisseur. Its Nebbiolo grapes transform into the full-bodied Barolo and Barbaresco known around the world, while the acidic and mineral-rich terroir also produces the enviable Garvey and Arnes white wines.
The birthplace of the Slow Food movement is also a great place to enjoy local artisan cuisine and impeccable local produce. Sample Alba white truffles, Alpine cheese, cured meats, hazelnuts (considered by many to be the best in the world), giandujotti chocolate, agnolotti or tajarin pasta, and hearty dishes such as Barolo braised beef. Together they offer exquisite ingredients for an unforgettable gastronomic experience.
The food and wine are exceptional, as is the atmosphere of the area. Piedmont retains its elegant and noble charm, with historic castles and palaces dotting the landscape and streetscapes, which are especially picturesque in autumn when the leaves change.
Itineraries are curated by Michelin-starred chef Stefano Secchi, who lives and works in Piedmont and has extensive knowledge of the region and deep connections with its chefs, winemakers and producers. This will be the second time Secchi has organized a Piedmont Food Tour, following the Piedmont Food Tour in November 2023. Watch him perform at the Rezdôra, which was recently named one of the best restaurants in the world and one of the 10 best Italian restaurants in the world.
