Fashionistas Now Wear Vamp Shoes Instead of Mary Janes

In past seasons, when fashionistas needed a sophisticated pair of shoes, they would opt for a simple pair of Mary Janes or ballet flats to get the job done. This fall, however, a new shoe trend has been creeping into other mainstream styles of clothing. While the aforementioned versatile shoe will never go “out of style,” fashionistas are embracing the wardrobe-changing potential of this fall’s upper shoe trend.

What are vamp shoes?

The upper is the upper part of the shoe, covering the front of the foot, and in many styles (except perhaps loafers) is cut near the toes. However, in 2024, I see an upward trend paired with taller uppers, hence the name, with designs that cut off toward the midfoot and extend further up the sides.

Because of this more full-coverage design, shoe uppers often break away from the heel shape, with almond-shaped toes or pointed toe finishes, and come in flat and heeled styles, both of which I’ve been seeing a lot of this season. See.

Who is wearing the vamp shoe trend?

Singer and TV presenter Rochelle Humes has become a part of the wardrobes of the fashionistas I follow most, and I spotted singer and TV presenter Rochelle Humes’ elegant shoe style on a date in Paris this week. Wearing trousers and a black bomber jacket, Humes’ daytime look exuded an effortless elegance that perfectly suited her personal style.

Another early adopter of the vamp shoe trend, model Elsa Hosk incorporated a pair of beautiful light brown heels into her casual jeans and T-shirt ensemble. Hosk’s choice of vamp shoes took the place of standard ballet flats, making her entire outfit feel more fashionable.
